20-3-16 East Midlands Area President Retires
The area president, Mr Keith Hudson as decided to hang up his belt (Obi) 56 years after starting Judo.
Keith started judo in 1960 and 10 years later established Loughborough Judo Club, Keith as Coach and his wife Doreen as secretary. Since this time both have been part of the Area Committee.
In April 2012 at the age of 75 Keith along with Doreen retired from Loughborough Judo Club, but both continued to be very active members of the Judo Community with Keith remaining in his role as the Area President.
Unfortunately Keith’s recent poor health as meant he’s found it difficult to spend as much time as he would like at Area events and thus felt it was time to retire from the role as Area President. As the saying goes behind every great man is a great woman and in this case it’s Doreen. Although not a judo player herself she’s been a very supportive and important member of the Area taking on many different roles over the years.
Keith and Doreen they were presented with a commemorative plaque and clock by the Area Committee in recognition of their hard work and dedication to Judo.
